XC-50 is a specialized, single-component thickening agent and accelerator designed for use with Spartan Epoxies' base membranes. This accelerator improves the membrane's moisture-curing properties, speeding up the curing process and increasing the coating's viscosity.
Features:
- Generates a thixotropic mixture
- Accelerates curing speed
- Reduces labor expenses by enabling two-coat application in a single day
Typical Uses:
- Forms a sealing material for plywood seams, fissures, concrete expansion gaps, and flashing elements
- Applicable on vertical surfaces
- Ideal for situations requiring rapid access
Mixing Instructions:
To mix XC-50 with base membranes such as AquaGuard, and other versions of our basecoats. Ask your Spartan Expert for more information and which basecoat is compatible with XC-50.
Follow these steps:
- Preparation: First, thoroughly mix your chosen base membrane.
- Addition: Next, add and integrate XC-50 into the pre-mixed base membrane. Stir until the mixture becomes uniform in both texture and color. If you're mixing by hand, ensure you do so for at least 5 minutes. Do not use up-and-down stirring motions.
- Mixing Ratio: You can choose between two mixing ratios:
- Use up to 2 pints of XC-50 for every 1 gallon of base membrane (or up to 0.24 liters of XC-50 per 3.78 liters of base membrane).
- Alternatively, use up to 1 quart of XC-50 for every 5 gallons of base membrane (or up to 0.95 liters of XC-50 per 18.9 liters of base membrane).
- Pot Life: The resulting thixotropic compound will have a pot life of approximately 15 to 20 minutes at a temperature of 75°F (24°C) and 50% relative humidity.
