The BondPRO series by Spartan Epoxies is a high-performance, two-component, 100% reactive epoxy system. It is specifically designed to be moisture insensitive and offers a high modulus, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Each product in this series meets ASTM C881 specifications for various types and grades.
Included in the BondPRO Series:
- BondPRO LV: Low viscosity epoxy for deep penetration and easy flow.
- BondPRO MV: Medium viscosity epoxy for balanced flow and control.
- BondPRO GEL: High viscosity gel epoxy for vertical or overhead applications with non-sag properties.
Specifying Information
- BondPRO LV (Low Viscosity): Meets ASTM specifications for Type II, Grade I, Class B, C, D, and E.
- BondPRO MV (Medium Viscosity): Meets ASTM specifications for Type II, Grade II, Class B, C, D, and E.
- BondPRO GEL (High Viscosity Gel): Meets ASTM specifications for Type I, Type II, Grade III, Class B, C, D, and E.
Recommended Uses:
BondPRO LV (Low Viscosity):
- Excellent as an adhesive for bonding concrete, steel, and wood.
- Ideal for bonding fresh to old concrete.
- Acts as a binder for mortars and crack injection systems.
BondPRO MV (Medium Viscosity):
- Perfect for sealing and bonding irregular surfaces.
- Suitable for adhesive applications bonding fresh to old concrete.
- Serves as a glue/adhesive in various applications and as a binder for mortars and broadcast systems.
BondPRO GEL (High Viscosity Gel):
- Best for bonding on vertical or overhead surfaces with non-sag properties.
- Suitable for bonding irregular surfaces.
- Excellent for vertical and overhead repairs and as a binder for mortars.
Packaging
Available in the following kit sizes:
- 3 gallon kit
- 15 gallon kit
- 165 gallon kit (BondPRO GEL not available in this size)
Chemical Resistance
The BondPRO series demonstrates excellent resistance to distilled water and most inorganic acids and alkalis. It also offers moderate resistance to alcohols and aromatic solvents.
Product Storage
Store all material at normal room temperature.
Surface Preparation
To ensure optimal bonding, the surface must be structurally sound and free of contaminants such as grease, oil, and dust. Sand blasting is the preferred method for surface preparation, but acid etching or scarification can also be used effectively. All free-standing water must be removed before application, although the bond is not deterred by damp surfaces.
Mixing
Combine Part A and Part B in a mixing vessel and mix thoroughly for about 2 minutes using a jiffy mixer/drill. Mix at low speeds to minimize air entrapment and ensure thorough scraping of the container’s sides and bottom. For liquids, transfer to another pail and remix before use.
Priming
Apply by brush or roller to a thickness of 3-5 mils.
Sealing
Apply by brush or roller to a thickness of 4-8 mils.
Crack Injection
Install injector ports and seal cracks using BondPRO GEL. Inject the material through the ports with a two-component pressure injection pump, starting at the lowest port and working upward.
Broadcast System
Apply mixed liquids and broadcast with sand of the desired texture and color. Remove excess sand after curing and apply a topcoat to lock in the sand. Additional coats may be applied for a smoother, high-gloss finish.
Binder for Mortar
Determine the appropriate amount of filler aggregate. Typically, a weight ratio of mixed liquids to sand from 1:3 to 1:5 is satisfactory.
Bonding Fresh to Old Concrete
Apply a thin, uniform layer using a brush, roller, squeegee, or spray. Place new concrete before the epoxy hardens. If the epoxy sets before application, re-apply.
High Build Coatings
Apply the mixed material with a brush, roller, or squeegee up to 1/16”. Use a de-airing tool to remove air bubbles if necessary. Priming the substrate is advisable to prevent air migration.
Bonding Irregular Surfaces
Use BondPRO GEL to bond irregular surfaces together.
Vertical and Overhead Repairs
For small cracks and shallow repairs, use BondPRO GEL. For larger repairs, use medium or low viscosity materials mixed with silica and/or clay, and trowel into the repair area.
Cleanup
Use xylene or ketone solvents for cleaning.
Restrictions
Ensure the area remains dry throughout the full cure cycle. Depending on the complete system application, the surface may be slippery, especially when wet or contaminated. Maintain cleanliness and dryness to avoid hazards.
